why doesn't Microsoft track down all the people who have bootleg vista/xp? I heard Microsoft can only tighten their security for cracker/hackers to hack it am I right?

Hi. It's more complicated than that. Many people do NOT know their software is pirated. MS went from denying known pirate keys to comparing known valid keys for any upgrades. The real problem is pirated machines will infect 'Store bought' machines. Not a happy (or simple to fix) problem.

If microsoft tracked them all down, then it would be tracking down hundreds of thousands of people, and the price of the suits alone would cost more then it was worth. They would just be driving themselves into debt.
